GEECT Thematic Meeting, RESEARCH IN FILM SCHOOLS IN TURBULENT TIMES
My PhD research investigated how filmmaking can move from practices of extraction and representation toward practices of relational accountability and care. Through long-term collaborations with Indigenous Tao and Truku communities on the Pacific islands of Taiwan and Pongso no Tao, I explored how figures such as the Hunter and the Nurse can reorient documentary practice from image-as-capture toward image-as-care.
