Dioramas, Aquariums and the Anthropocene: The revival of nineteenth-century spectacular devices in contemporary art.

This thesis project looks at the phenomenon of the revival of nineteenth-century spectacular devices in contemporary art. More specifically, the research focuses on the way in which some contemporary artists evoke or explicitly use the diorama and the aquarium to directly or indirectly question issues linked to the climate crisis and the Anthropocene concept.
