Els Opsomer participates in the exhibition Energia. Artistic presence in the Belgian - Brazilian landscape dedicated to the artistic dialogue between Belgium and Brazil. The exhibition offers a glimpse into the artistic presence in the Belgian-Brazilian landscape, exploring the various forms of energy that emerge through stories, experiences, knowledge, encounters, exchanges and, of course, artworks.

‘imovie[2] in-between/shifting’ is the second video created by Els Opsomer using the ‘iLife’ software, included with Apple computers. The video features Brazilian cityscapes, accompanied by musings as subtitles of a character exploring an unknown place. The soundtrack consists of the noise of thought. The act of looking at what is near or far is a game that requires both zooming in and out.
The video appears to be filmed on-site, while Els Opsomer, after her stay, re-films her photographs to give shape to her experience through editing while (re)watching. ‘imovie[2] in-between/shifting’ is addressed to another. Who this ‘other’ is, remains unclear: is it the city being observed, or a loved one? The video letter describes a way of holding one's ground in a space (or relationship) that is too overwhelming.
