Photo Phnom Penh 2026 — At Home in the World

22 October – 22 November 2026, Phnom Penh, Cambodia

The 17th edition of Photo Phnom Penh Festival opened on 22 October 2026, bringing together historical and contemporary photographic practices across eleven venues throughout the Cambodian capital.

Under the theme At Home in the World, this year's edition explores questions of belonging, identity, memory and displacement in an increasingly interconnected world. Through diverse photographic approaches and perspectives, the festival invites reflection on the relationships between individual and collective histories, cultural affiliations, languages, communities and the places we inhabit.

The 2026 edition takes place within two significant international contexts: the bicentennial of the invention of photography, initiated by the French Ministry of Culture and celebrated through more than a thousand events and institutions worldwide, and the 20th Francophonie Summit, hosted for the first time in Cambodia. These contexts provide an opportunity to highlight the diversity of photographic practices within the Francophone world while opening broader dialogues across geographical and cultural boundaries.

This edition marks a new chapter in the festival's history, with the introduction of a collective curatorial coordination model. Bringing together Marie LE MOUNIER (France/Switzerland), MOENG Meta (Cambodia), Isabelle LE MINH (France), and SAM I-shan (Singapore), this approach seeks to strengthen the festival's local and regional roots while fostering a plurality of perspectives and more contextually grounded curatorial dialogues.

The programme features 28 artists working across historical and contemporary photography, including Jean Boulbet ∙ Arnold FOKAM ∙ Émile GSELL ∙ HUL Kanha ∙ KEO Ponita ∙ KHVAY Samnang ∙ KIM Hak ∙ KONG Raksmey ∙ LIM Sokchanlina ∙ Gosette LUBONDO ∙ MAK Remissa ∙ MAO Sovannchandy ∙ MEAN Pisey ∙ MECH Sereyrath ∙ NEAK Sophal ∙ Flora NGUYEN ∙ Richard PAK ∙ Raphaël PECH ∙ PRUM Ero ∙ Rima SAMMAN ∙ Ashley SCHNEITER ∙  SOK Rina ∙ SOVAN Philong ∙ Arina STARYKH ∙ Beat STREULI ∙ Pasha RAFIY ∙ Ismaël ROUBERT ∙ Daniel WAGENER as well as the participation of recent graduates from Studio Images (Phnom Penh).

Exhibitions and related events are presented across eleven venues, including the French Embassy in Cambodia, the French Institute of Cambodia, the National Museum of Cambodia, Friends Futures Factory (F3), Hiroshima House Cambodia, Studio Images, Vann Molyvann House and Bophana Center.

Running until 22 November 2026, Photo Phnom Penh continues to provide a platform for encounters between artists, photographic histories and contemporary practices, contributing to the development of photographic culture and critical exchange in Cambodia and across the region.

See you in Phnom Penh!
