
Jana J. Haeckel is an art historian, curator and lecturer who examines image and body politics in contemporary art, specifically in the new ethics of photography in the digital age. Art practices that subvert historical narratives through archival research are also part of her work. Since december 2021 she serves as director of Photoforum Pasquart in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland. Haeckel holds a PhD in art history from Université Catholique de Louvain and studied art history, comparative literature and Romance Languages at the Humboldt Universität Berlin, Freie Universität Berlin and Sorbonne Paris. She has worked for various public and private cultural institutions, such as Goethe-Institut Brussels, Pinakothek der Moderne Munich and Boros collection Berlin. Recent publications include 'Everything Passes Except the Past' (SternbergPress, 2021).
