Prof. Dr. Stefanie Diekmann teaches media studies and image theory at Hildesheim University in Germany and has been a Senior Fellow at the Interdisciplinary Center of Cultural Studies at Constance University in 2016 and at the Center of Media and Cultural Studies at the Bauhaus University, Weimar. Her ongoing research interests are the intermedia relations of technical images (both photographic and filmic) and the representation of media in fiction and non-fiction film. Her current work focuses on documentary film, with a particular interest in interview situations and the uses of footage. Recent publications include: "Das geteilte Bild. Die digitale Fotografie" (commented translation of André Gunthert's "L'image partagée", Konstanz University Press 2019) and "Die Attraktion des Apparativen" (ed. with Volker Wortmann, Munich: Wilhelm Fink 2020). Stefanie Diekmann also works as a film and art critic; her reviews have been published by Texte zur Kunst, Der Freitag, filmbulletin, perlentaucher.de, and Cargo Magazine.
